The Environment and Health Administration is the responsible authority in Stockholm for issues relating to the in and outdoor environment. Traffic is one of the major environmental problems in Stockholm. The Environmental and Health Administration works to limit traffic noise and to improve the quality of the air.
   The Environmental and Health Administration coordinates the work with the City's project Clean Vehicles in Stockholm. One objective is to integrate environmentally friendly vehicles in the municipal car fleet, another is to promote their use among local business.

With 240,000 inhabitants, Graz is the second largest city in Austria. It is the capital and the cultural, economic and university centre of the Styria province. Graz has a centre with many pedestrian precincts and large cycle traffic. It was the first city in Europe to implement a speed limit of 30 km for the entire city areas (except for major roads) and the first Austrian city to open a Mobility centre. Lille Metropole is an intercommunal structure (85 communes and 1,2 million inhabitants) working in close cooperation with its belgian counterparts. It is a base for distribution and a node for major routes north-south and east-west in Europe. Lille has built up a strong public transport network and the main problem is how best to develop the links this and international transport services. Lille Metropole coordinates Trendsetter Lille.

The City of Prague with its area of 496 km2 has a population of 1.2 million inhabitants. There is a high concentration of both political and economic administration, industry, trade, education, research as well as tourism, which requires serious efforts of enhanced traffic management. Unfortunately undeveloped traffic infrastructure causes troubles in this sphere. One of the biggest problems is the very fast growth of the number of private cars in the last 10 years.

City of Pecs, Hungary

The City of Pecs with 170 thousand inhabitants is a middle-sized Hungarian regional centre. The city is a cultural, educational, commercial and health centre 40kms from the Croatian border. The transition period resulted a huge demand for private car parking spaces and public transportation as, the number of cars and the number of tourists, students increased rapidly. In November 2000 the early Christian burial chambers received the UNESCO World Heritage title, providing new tasks for the municipality in the field of heritage protection and preservation.
